Project C.U.R.E.
The Burlington Rotary Club is now promoting Project C.U.R.E. in our community.  Project C.U.R.E. is the world's largest nonprofit organization donated donated medical supplies and equipment to hospitals, clinics and community health centers in the developing world.  Headquartered in Centennial, Colorado they are dedicated to improving, healthcare infrastructure in resource-limited communities where basic supplies and modern equipment are unaffordable or unavailable. In 2015/16 they delivered 139 cargo containers  carrying more than $57.3 million worth of medical goods to 53 countries!

Our club is proud to be a part of this endeavour.  When you visit your health care provider look for the red tubs that we have set out.  If you have any questions or would like to donate medical supplies, please contact our chairperson, John Buol at 719-349-7072.

Rotary Club Members Deliver Dictionaries!

The Burlington Rotary completed the annual Dictionary drive by handing out 155 dictionaries to the 3rd graders in our area.  The schools that we distributed the dictionaries to were Burlington, Bethune, Stratton, Hi-Plains, Flagler, Idalia, Cheyenne Wells, Burlington Christian School and the Sacred Heart Catholic School.  It is always a pleasure to watch the young students receive their very own book!

The Willard J Gross "Service Above Self" Award
Posted by Ken Viken on Mar 06, 2017
The Burlington Rotary Club sponsors the Willard J Gross, "Service Above Self" award every year and is designed to reward individuals that put their service to their vocation and to others above pay, before their own well being and sometimes their lives.  This project will recognize individuals in the vocations of Firefighter, Law Enforcement, Education and Nursing. These vocations, whether paid or volunteer are on the front lines of helping people and saving lives in our community.  It is our Club's desire to reward and to recognize these outstanding people that work in our community.

Nominations are due by March 16. Additional nomination forms are available at the State Farm Insurance office.

This years award ceremony will be held at "Spices on the Green" at 6:30, on April 4th. Plan on being there to recognize all the nominees!

Thought for the Week - Who Said It?
Posted by Ken Viken on Mar 07, 2017
"Friendship was the foundation rock on which Rotary was built and tolerance is the element which holds it together.  There is enough atomic energy in every Rotary club to blow it into a thousand bits were it not for the spirit of tolerance."
